How to get your products into ChatGPT

To show up in ChatGPT shopping, two things must be true. ChatGPT has to be able to reach your product data. That data also has to be clear enough for ChatGPT to pick you over someone else.

The short answer

ChatGPT recommends products from structured data it can read. If your listings are messy or your shop blocks the crawlers that read them, ChatGPT skips you. You fix this by letting the crawlers in, adding structured product data, and writing descriptions a machine can understand. You can do that work yourself, or TokoSales can do it for you.

Does ChatGPT already show my Etsy or Shopify products?

Sometimes, yes. OpenAI has said that large platforms, including Etsy and Shopify, are integrated into ChatGPT shopping. So ChatGPT can already surface some listings from those platforms.

There are three limits worth knowing. First, that integration is United States only today, so buyers in other countries may not see the same results. Second, it covers one surface, which is ChatGPT itself, not Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, or Klarna. Third, being technically reachable is not the same as being recommended.

ChatGPT picks the product whose data answers the buyer's question best. If your title is cluttered and your description leaves out the material, the size, or the use, a cleaner listing wins the recommendation. Being in the index gets you considered. Clean data gets you chosen.

How to do it yourself

You can prepare your shop without any paid tool. Here is the honest do-it-yourself path.

  1. Let the AI crawlers read your shop.

OpenAI reads the web with bots named GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot. Your robots.txt file is the rulebook that tells bots what they may read. Make sure it does not block those two names. If you are not sure, check yourdomain.com/robots.txt.

  2. Add structured product data.

Structured data is product detail written in a fixed format that machines read, using the Schema.org Product standard. It states your price, your stock, and your product identifier in fields an agent can trust. Most Shopify and WooCommerce themes add some of this for you, but often leave gaps.

  3. Write clear, conversational descriptions.

Buyers ask agents plain questions, such as "a waterproof jacket for a tall man" or "a christening gift under thirty pounds". Your description should answer those questions in plain words. Name the material, the size, the use, and who the product suits.

  4. Submit a feed where the platform accepts one.

A feed is a single file that lists every product in a fixed format. Where a shopping channel accepts a feed, submitting one is more reliable than waiting for a crawler to find you.
